SYMPTOMS

• The signal decreases through a sample set and becomes noise
• Method runs successfully on a different, non- ELS detector
• No liquid comes from the waste tube at normal flow of 1 mL/min, even after adjusting the drain tubing

ENVIRONMENT

• 2424 Evaporative Light Scattering Detector
• ACQUITY UPLC ELS Detector

CAUSE

Dirty nebulizer and drift tube

FIX or WORKAROUND

Clean the nebulizer and drift tube per the instructions in the model of detector you have
