Gain Increases on ELS Detectors after repeated power ups.
In an attempt to mitigate the effects of optical degradation over time, ELS firmware contains code that artificially adds gain each time the detectors are powered on. Unfortunately, an error makes this gain increase with each successive power up and can eventually cause signal saturation even at low gain settings. Running the normalization routine returns the gain to normal levels.
Suggest less frequent power ups or routine renormalization of the detector to avoid this signal saturation.
