How to read energy on PDA detector - WKB68243

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Read energy on an ACQUITY PDA.

ENVIRONMENT

• ACQUITY UPLC PDA Detector
• 2998 Photodiode Array Detector 

PROCEDURE

1. Lamp should be ON and lit for 60 minutes prior to reading energy.
2. Launch the ACQUITY Console.
   • For 2998, right click on the 2998 window in the Run Samples screen, and select "Launch Console".
3. In the left-hand tree, click on the PDA.
4. Select "Maintain" menu.
5. Then "Read energy".
6. Set "exposure time" to 5 msec.
7. Check "Continuous read".
8. Check "Open" for the shutter position.
9. Select the wavelength closest to 230 nm.
10. Click "Read".

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Run with 100% HPLC-grade methanol in the flow cell at 230 nm. Example:

Energy reading above 20,000 counts indicates acceptable optics performance
