ACQUITY H-Class Column Manager error: "Column manager: Column 2 configuration error" - WKB5964

SYMPTOMS

• Error message: System Status
  Column Manager: Column 2 Configuration Error, two pre-heaters detected (-1)
    
• Resetting or power cycling the Column Manager does not clear the error
• There is only one active preheater connected to the column 2 slots

ENVIRONMENT

• ACQUITY UPLC H-Class
• MassLynx 4.1

CAUSE

Column manager in error state.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. In the Console, go to the Column Manager.
2. Select Configure > Preheaters.
3. Change Column 2 Preheater to Passive and select OK.
4. Power cycle (power-off, wait 10 seconds, and power-on) the Column Manager as the message suggests, and click OK. 
5. Select Control > Reset CM to clear the communication error.
6. Select Configure > Preheaters.
7. Change Column 2 Preheater back to active and select OK.
8. Power cycle the Column Manager as the message suggests, and click OK. 
9. Select Control > Reset CM to clear the communication error.
