SYMPTOMS

  • High background noise
  • Interference prevents suitable peak integration

Other observations:

  • New column, chemistry, and mobile phase
  • Detector noise and drift test passes successfully
  • System pressure is stable
  • The pump leak diagnostics pass
  • Back pressure regulator is installed
  • The filter time constant is programmed correctly
  • System was flushed according to cleaning protocol
     

ENVIRONMENT

  • H-Class System
  • TUV Detector
  • Solvent A: 90/10 H2O/CH3CN
  • Solvent B: 95/5 CH3CN/THF
  • Wash: 70/15/15 H2O/CH3CN/2-propanol
  • Purge and Seal Wash: 90/10 H2O/CH3CN

CAUSE

 The solvent bottles are dirty and contaminated.

FIX or WORKAROUND

Replace all glassware. Use brand new solvent bottles and freshly prepared solvents.
