Article number: 29705

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Set the IP address on the LAN card (G1369C) installed in an Agilent GC 6890+, so it communicates with Empower through Ethernet using Agilent ICF 3.0.

ENVIRONMENT

  • Windows 10
  • Agilent ICF Support v3.0
  • Empower 3 Enterprise
  • Agilent GC 6890+ (Plus) (G1530A)
  • Agilent LAN card G1369C - Jet direct card

PROCEDURE

  1. Refer to the Agilent G1369C LAN Interface Card User Manual.
  2. Power-off the 6890+.
  3. Find the initialization mode switches located on the LAN card.
  4. Set the dipswitches to DHCP Initialization Mode by setting Switch 4 to ON and the rest of the switches to OFF (8 switches total).
  5. Set the instrument LAN in the connected PC to 192.168.0.1 or, alternatively, to 172.16.0.1.
  6. Reboot the PC.
  7. Power-on the 6890+.
  8. Open the DHCP tab in Empower Node Properties.
  9. The IP address for the GC should appear in the DHCP window.
  10. Open the Command Prompt and type the Ping command to the IP address in the DHCP window.
  11. Verify the MAC address by typing in the "arp -a" command in the Command Prompt.
  12. Run the Agilent Pre-Configuration Utility as noted in the Agilent ICF Support v3.0 Release Notes.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Agilent 6890+ does not typically have a LAN card installed. This must be done in order to use Agilent ICF Support v3.0 to control the 6890+.
