What do I need to know before performing retrofit activities on an Alliance iS TUV system? - WKB287037
ENVIRONMENT
- Alliance iS TUV (186030007)
ANSWER
There are several active retrofits—both hardware and firmware/software updates—for the Alliance iS TUV system.
All systems manufactured before January 2024 require at least one of the listed retrofits, and many require more than one retrofit, so be sure to check the Alliance iS Retrofit Tracking List and search for your serial number before scheduling this work.
Retrofit 1 - Alliance iS Software and Firmware update to v1.1
If Retrofit 1 was not completed before the release of v1.2, that work order was updated to Retrofit 4, requiring upgrade only to v1.2.
Retrofit 2 - RFID PCB Replacement (700014001) and Alliance iS Software and Firmware update
You must install the RFID PCB and upgrade to v1.2. There will be two cases and work orders to document the retrofit activities.
Retrofit 3 - Drip Tray Bracket (700014034), RFID PCB Replacement (700014001), and Alliance iS Software and Firmware update
You must install the Drip Tray Bracket, the RFID PCB, and upgrade to v1.2. There will be two cases and work orders to document the retrofit activities.
Retrofit 4 - Alliance iS Software and Firmware update to v1.2.0
You are required to upgrade the firmware and software to v1.2. There will be one case and work order to document the retrofit activities.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
You must confirm that the partition mounts and RTC are correct before initiating the firmware upgrade.
You must use a dedicated, unbridged LAN port to perform the firmware upgrade.
Do not attempt to downgrade the firmware.
Do not rush. The firmware upgrade can take as long as 90 minutes to complete. And do not pay attention to what is displayed in the TeraTerm window; wait for the system to go to Idle.
If any errors are observed on the kiosk that do not clear after a reset, power-down the unit, unplug the power cord, and leave the system off for at least 10 minutes before plugging the power back in. Then, wait at least 15 minutes for the system to complete initialization.
Do not cancel the retrofit work order or case unless the system was returned. All other activities must be documented in the retrofit work order, even if the work was completed previously as part of installation or a support case. If that happens, document in the case and work order that the work took place in the retrofit work order and case.
If you cannot find a retrofit work order or case for your system and it is listed in the Alliance iS Retrofit Tracking List, contact Faye Benz.
