How to troubleshoot ACQUITY FTN as the source of system high pressure - WKB281533
Article number: 281533
OBJECTIVE or GOAL
Troubleshoot ACQUITY FTN as the source of system high pressure.
ENVIRONMENT
- ACQUITY UPLC H-Class
- ACQUITY UPLC I-Class
- ACQUITY UPLC Sample Manager - Flow Through Needle PLUS (SM-FTN PLUS)
PROCEDURE
Stop all flow on the ACQUITY. Remove connections on port 5, port 4, port 1,and port 6 on the sample manager injector pod.
- Reset to clear all errors.
- Start flow from the solvent manager (flow will start coming out of the line that was connected to port 5 ) and monitor system pressure. If pressure is still high, review the solvent manager for possible blockage.
- If pressure is low, stop all ACQUITY flow and reconnect line into port 5.
- Start flow from the solvent manager. Flow will come out of port 4 (when injector valve is in inject position) or port 6 (when injector valve is in load position). If the pressure is high, there is a blockage in the injector valve.
- If pressure is low, review valve position and switch the valve position via the sample manager interactive control in the console, and verify that pressure is still low in the other position.
- If pressure is still low, stop all ACQUITY flow and reconnect line into port 4.
- Start flow from the solvent manager and, using the sample manager interactive control, set the injector valve to inject position (flow will now be coming out of the line that was connected to port 1) and monitor system pressure. If pressure is still high, there is a possible blockage in the needle, needle seat, or seat port assembly, and those items should be reviewed for possible blockages.
- If pressure is low, stop all ACQUITY flow and reconnect line to port 1.
- Start flow from the solvent manager (with injector valve set to inject, flow will be coming out of port 6 ) and monitor system pressure. If pressure is now high, there is a blockage in the injector valve.
- If pressure is low, review all tubing and connections from port 6 to column for a blockage.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
When switching valve positions on the interactive display, if you change views on the console, the valve position might revert back to its original position.
