How to autozero the flow controllers on an ACQUITY M-Class with breaking fluidics connections (the best way) - WKB25522
Article number: 25522
OBJECTIVE or GOAL
Use the best method to autozero the flow controllers on an ACQUITY M-Class.
ENVIRONMENT
- ACQUITY M-Class
- ICS 1.53 or 1.55
- Firmware 1.56
- For ICS 1.74 and firmware 1.56, see the update at end of article
PROCEDURE
- Break the fluidics connection (if not already done) from the exit of the μBSM and remove the tubing.
- Prime the A and B lines of the μBSM for five minutes.
- Set the μBSM to flow at 25 μL/min 50:50 A/B for 15 minutes.
Note: Place an absorbent material below the outlet of the pump to capture the flowing solvent.
- Stop flow.
- Wait for at least five minutes and monitor the measured flow rate for stability.
- Pin plug the outlet of the μBSM.
Pin plugs: or
- Again, wait for at least five minutes and monitor measured flow rate for stability.
- Run the autozero flow transducers diagnostic, from the Troubleshooting menu of each pump within the console.
- Reconnect tubing and ensure that there are no leaks.
Update for DP 2019 and newer (cf. release notes: https://www.waters.com/waters/support.htm?lid=135041575&lcid=135041574&type=RLSN)
A wizard has been introduced to ease up autozeroing the flow controllers; follow the wizard accordingly. The wizard flushes the solvents into the flow controller with up to 18 µL/min 50%A 50%B through the trapping flow path.
Autozero for "BSM only" system configuration selection will only show once Service Mode is enabled.
