How to disassemble a 2410/2414 HPLC RI detector - WKB237947

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Shut down and disassemble a HPLC RI Detector for shipment to the repair center.

ENVIRONMENT

  • 2410 Differential Refractometer Detector
  • 2414 Differential Refractometer Detector

PROCEDURE

  1. Wash the system in Purge mode with H2O for 20 minutes, and then wash the system in Purge mode with IPA for 20 minutes.
  2. Close the control software and power-off the module.
  3. Electrically unplug the module and mark and remove any cables (Ethernet, signal, I/O, events,IEEE Interface connection) from the module rear.
    (Marking the cables is important for reinstalling the system when the modules come back from repair. Photos of cable and tubing are also helpful.)

4. Disconnect inlet and outlet tubing from the module front and slide off valve outlet tubing from waste line.

5. Move the module to a suitable box for shipment. (If a box is not available, ask your local Waters office.)
  Note the dimensions and weight of the module to choose the appropriate box: 

HPLC 2410 Detector 28.4 cm X 20.8 cm X 50.3 cm, 9.7 kg 

HPLC 2414 Detector 28.4 cm X 20.8 cm X 50.3 cm, 11.4 kg

 

6. Fill and sign the latest revision of the H&S module provided by Waters.

7. Attach it to the box and send a PDF copy to the local Waters office.

8. The Waters office will contact you to arrange the shipment.

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

To reinstall the module, attach all of the cables and tubes that were removed.
