ACQUITY UPLC PDA baseline ripples with BSM pump and TFA solvent - WKB22823

SYMPTOMS

• Baseline ripples are equal over the entire gradient run
• Present only when pump A and pump B are pumping at the same time
• Leak tests pass

ENVIRONMENT

• ACQUITY UPLC BSM
• Empower
• MassLynx

CAUSE

TFA in mobile phase. The 50-µL mixer is too small.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Install a 100-µL mixer (205000404) or a 380-µL mixer (205000705).
2. The amount of TFA should be exactly the same in A and B.
