System under pressure error when running System Startup from the ACQUITY Console for an ACQUITY UPLC I-Class PLUS Binary Solvent Manager controlled by MassLynx 4.2 - WKB225646

Article number: 225646

SYMPTOMS

  • System Under Pressure Error when running System Startup from the ACQUITY Console
  • Pump A and Pump B prime as expected, Pump A stops priming while Pump B continues, error occurs at this point
  • Error does not come when pumps are primed manually
  • Dynamic Leak Test passes for both Pumps A and B, and both primary and accumulator
  • Running StopMasslynxProcesses and resetting BMS does not resolve the issue

ENVIRONMENT

  • ACQUITY UPLC I-Class PLUS Binary Solvent Manager
  • MassLynx 4.2

CAUSE

On the System Startup > BMS tab, Pump B2 was set to be primed and should not have been.

FIX or WORKAROUND

On the System Startup > BMS tab, clear the selection of Pump B2 from the list of pumps to be primed.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Because Pump B2 was not generally used on this system, it is likely that the lines were dry or had large air bubbles and thus could not build any pressure when trying to prime, resulting in the System Under Pressure error.
