Slighty increased retention time during GPC analysis with Alliance 2695 - WKB224062

SYMPTOMS

• Solvent retention time appears slightly later than normal in GPC analysis using Alliance 2695
• The mobile phase is THF
• There is no major problem with the peak shape of the polymer.

ENVIRONMENT

• Alliance HPLC System
• 2695 Separations Module

CAUSE

Minor leak at column inlet - given the volatility of THF it might evaporate before visible droplets can be formed

FIX or WORKAROUND

If the fitting at the column entrance is worn or deformed, replace it.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

It is advisable to record the system pressure before starting the analysis and review the tubing connection if there is a change in pressure.
