2695 SM fails static leak test when primary compresses - WKB197787

Article number: 197787

SYMPTOMS

  • Static leak test failure for the accumulator. As the test starts, the accumulator builds pressure up to 5k and then begins its leak-down period. The pressure drops at an acceptable rate, until the primary begins to compress. As the primary reaches about 3K, the pressure of the accumulator drops to match the pressure of the primary. The test runs to completion, giving failing numbers for both heads. The message says accumulator check valve failed to close.

ENVIRONMENT

  • Alliance HPLC System
  • 2695 Separations Module
  • 2695D Dissolution Separations Module
  • 2795 Separations Module

CAUSE

Accumulator check valve is not staying closed.

FIX or WORKAROUND

  1. Replace the accumulator check valve (700000254).
  2. Both pump heads should now give a leak rate of less than 100 psi/min.
