What is the purpose of the UV blocking filter on the ACQUITY PDA? - WKB14047

Article number: 14047

ENVIRONMENT

  • ACQUITY PDA
  • MassLynx
  • Empower

ANSWER

When the "Use UV blocking filter (below 210 nm)" check box in the inlet method (MassLynx) or instrument method (Empower) of the ACQUITY PDA is selected, a UV blocking filter moves into the light beam path to prevent light with wavelengths shorter than 210 nm from entering the flow cell.

This feature may be beneficial for solvents with a high UV cutoff. The user manual includes a table showing UV cutoffs for common solvents.
