Error message "Active Preheater not supported with current configuration" appears for ACQUITY UPLC H Class - WKB12412

SYMPTOMS

• After switching between Column Heater - Active (CH-A) and 30cm Column Heater/Cooler module, this error message appears
• Unable to start run with Column Manager - Active (CM-A) due to Columns "Active Preheater not supported with current hardware"

ENVIRONMENT

• Empower
• MassLynx
• ACQUITY Column Heater - Active (CH-A)
• ACQUITY Column Manager - Active (CM-A)
• ACQUITY 30cm Column Heater - Active (CH-30A)
• ACQUITY UPLC 30cm Column Heater/Cooler (30cm CHC)

CAUSE

• A preheater conflict programmed in the ACQUITY Sample Manager instrument/inlet method and configured in console software
  • This issue can occur in a mixed column module environment when switching between 30cm column compartments (CH-30A and 30cm CHC)

FIX or WORKAROUND

Change the settings for the preheater (non-operating column compartment) in both the console and the instrument method.

• The preheater will need to be configured back to active when switching operations back to this column module.
