High area %RSD using SMFTN - WKB107852

SYMPTOMS

• High area %RSD observed
• Initial injections yield consistent peak areas
• Peak area becomes erratic after a few injections

ENVIRONMENT

• ACQUITY UPLC H-Class
• ACQUITY UPLC H-Class Bio
• Acquity Arc
• Arc HPLC
• Acquity UPLC I-Class with SMFTN

CAUSE

Insufficient Sample Manager purge during system setup

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Open the instrument console.
2. Navigate to Sample Manager FTN in the system tree.
3. Select Control from the drop-down menus along the top of the window.
4. Select Prime from the drop-down menu.
5. Ensure that the Purge Solvent selection is made.
6. Specify the appropriate number of cycles to be performed. (At least 40 cycles are recommended for a complete changeover of solvents.)
