SYMPTOMS

• High-pressure shutdown due to blocked gradient mixer

ENVIRONMENT

• 1525 pump

CAUSE

Gradient mixer is blocked.

High-pressure shutdown occurs even with the reference waste valve open.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Disconnect the inlet and outlet gradient mixer tubing connections.
2. Connect the inlet tubing to the outlet port of the mixer and back flush at 0.1 mL/min in order to flush out the blockage slowly.
3. If the blockage is buffer precipitate, you may need to flush with hot water instead of room temperature water.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The hot water temperature typically used is between ( 120 -140 °F ) (49°C -  60°C) .
