SYMPTOMS

• Error "This license type is not a valid software type for your installation" when trying to activate a small-molecule license in UNIFI
• Base license is activated
• Base license and small-molecule license are associated with the same customer number
• Base license and small-molecule license are both Workstation

ENVIRONMENT

• UNIFI Workstation

CAUSE

The serial number of the small-molecule license is not unique. 

FIX or WORKAROUND

Contact your local Waters support team to have the issue corrected. When the duplication is corrected, the license should activate as intended.
