Cannot change injection mode from Single Pump Trapping to Direct Injection for the nanoACQUITY Sample Manager controlled by Xcalibur software. - WKB9818

SYMPTOMS

• Change injection mode from Single Pump Trapping to Direct Injection and reset ACQUITY console. Result: Unhandled Exception Error.

ENVIRONMENT

• Xcalibur 4.0.27.19
• nanoACQUITY UPLC System
• Waters nanoACQUITY version 2.9.0 build 744
• Instrument Driver Pack version 1.51.3347 Build 05 July 2011

CAUSE

Changing the injection mode of the nanoACQUITY Sample Manager with Xcalibur control requires the user account setting to be in "Never Notify".

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Log into Windows as an Administrator.
2. Go to Start > Control Panel > User Accounts > User Accounts > Change User Control Settings.
3. Set User Control Settings to Never Notify.
4. Restart PC.
5. Go into Xcalibur and the ACQUITY Console.
6. Change the injection mode and reset the console.
7. Close Xcalibur and the ACQUITY Console.
8. Go to Start > Control Panel > User Accounts > User Accounts > Change User Control Settings.
9. Set the User Control Setting to Default.
10. Restart PC.
11. Go into Xcalibur and ACQUITY Console.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Normal operation of Xcalibur requires that the User Controls be set to Default. Changing the injection mode (from Single Pump Trapping Mode to Direct Injection or Direct Injection to Single Pump Trapping) requires that the User Controls be set to Never Notify. In order to change the injection mode, you must change the user control settings.
