The error "This implementation is not part of the Windows Platform FIPS validated cryptographic algorithms" appears when opening the Document Report with Audit Trail in NuGenesis LMS - WKB92741

SYMPTOMS

• The following error message appears when opening document PDF reports in NuGenesis LMS:
  • This implementation is not part of the Windows Platform FIPS validated cryptographic algorithms
  • at iTextSharp.text.pdf.PdfReader.ReadPDF()

ENVIRONMENT

• NuGenesis 9 LMS
• NuGenesis 8 LMS
• NuGenesis 8 ELN

CAUSE

The system policy "System cryptography: Use FIPS 140 compliant cryptographic algorithms, including encryption, hashing and signing algorithms" is enabled and the encryption algorithm used by LMS in the PDF creation is not part of the FIPS list of acceptable algorithms.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Disable the FIPS 140 system policy in Windows. This policy is usually set at the domain level, for either individual servers or for groups of machines. This policy must be set to Disabled on all machines where the NuGenesis LMS client is installed.
