XPS files are not displayed in LMS documents - WKB6856

SYMPTOMS

• Inserting an XPS (XML Paper Specification) file, either through drag-and-drop or Add File, results in an icon displayed in LMS, rather than the contents of the XPS file.
• Attempting to open an XPS section within LMS results in a "Create Package" dialog box.

• NuGenesis 8 ELN SR1
• NuGenesis 8 LMS FR1
• NuGenesis 8 LMS SR2

CAUSE

NuGenesis LMS does not have a built-in viewer for XPS files. Inserting an XPS file into a LMS document is not recommended.

FIX or WORKAROUND

SCR D_031754_06835 requests that an XPS file viewer be added to NuGenesis LMS.

In the current product releases, add the XPS file as a section attachment:

1. Select a section in an LMS document and click Section menu > Properties.
2. Click the Section Details button and select Section Attachments from the list.
3. Click the Upload button. LMS opens a standard file-open dialog box.
4. Select the XPS file and click OK.
5. Select the file and click Open. LMS downloads the XPS file into a temporary file and opens it in the system viewer.
