Error: "Error instantiating Restore EVS object for: Waters Corp.:Empower-3" appears when restoring an Empower project from NuGenesis SDMS - WKB67711

SYMPTOMS

• The following error message appears when attempting to restore Empower projects from SDMS:
  • "Error: Error instantiating Restore EVS object for: Waters Corp.:Empower-3"

ENVIRONMENT

• NuGenesis 9 SDMS
• The Empower Restore adapter is installed and the Auto IQ check passes

CAUSE

This is a software defect. There is a dependency between the Empower Restore adapter and the Empower3 Remote data adapter. This dependency was introduced in NG9, so this issue does not affect NuGenesis 8 or earlier versions.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Defect report CRI-650 was filed for this issue.
2. Until a software fix is made available, install the Empower3 Remote data capture adapter from the NuGenesis 9 Data Adapters installation media on any machine on which you want to restore Empower projects. After installation, stop the following services to minimize the impact of this installation on the system:
   • Waters SDMS EmpowerDA DataExchangeService
   • Waters SDMS EmpowerDA DataExchangeService DM
3. This issue is fixed in NuGenesis 9 Data Adapters Release 3.
