Incomplete data shown in a document report from NuGenesis LMS - WKB62988

SYMPTOMS

• The PDF report for a NuGenesis LMS document shows incomplete data for one or more sections
• A "+" watermark appears on the pages of the report that are missing content
• The complete content appears in the LMS client
• The document has section images that exceed the page size as indicated by the red color of the document ruler

ENVIRONMENT

• NuGenesis 9 LMS
• NuGenesis 8 LMS
• One or more sections use the "Visible Form Range" option in NuGenesis Smart Builder
• The sections that use "Visible Form Range" have enough content to exceed the size of the system paper size (usually A4 or US Letter)

CAUSE

The "Visible Form Range" option sends one image to LMS for the defined range; the range in Excel exceeds the paper size; and the LMS client does not resize the image to fit within the document paper size.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Use the Visible Form Range option when the section content is fixed in size and will fit within the bounds of the LMS system paper size.
2. If the section content is variable in size—for example, input fields that expand with user input or form functions that show/hide rows and columns—then do not use Visible Form Range; instead, use the Waters Image Writer option.
3. If the section content is fixed in size but will exceed the page size, use the Waters Image Writer option.
4. The Image Writer option offers a few advantages over the Visible Form Range for variable content or large content: Excel will split the content into multiple pages and LMS will resize the images to fit within the system paper size.
