Error "Invalid value '#NAME?' for Expiry Date!" appears when registering a chemical with the NuGenesis form WAT Register Substance - WKB56457

Article number: 56457

SYMPTOMS

  • When using the WAT Register Substance form from the NuGenesis Smart Procedures Application Pack 1, the following error message appears in the Form Chemicals Error section metadata:
    • Error at save: Invalid value "#NAME?" for Expiry Date!
  • The substance is not entered into the reagents inventory

ENVIRONMENT

  • NuGenesis 8 LMS
  • NuGenesis 8 Smart Builder
  • NuGenesis 8 Smart Procedures Pack 1, form "WAT Register Substance"

CAUSE

The "WatersUDF.FormDesignerUDF" plugin is not active in Excel. WAT Register Substance uses this plugin to calculate the expiry date for the new reagent. If the plugin is disabled, the expiry date will be blank in the form.

FIX or WORKAROUND

Ensure that the plugin DLL is installed on the client or Citrix machine:

  1. Look for the file Drive:\Program Files (x86)\Waters\NuGenesis LMS Smart Procedures Plugins\Waters.ELNLEME.UDF_v1.0.dll.
  2. If that file, or path, is not present, reinstall the NuGenesis LMS Smart Procedures pack on the client or Citrix machine.
  3. Move all files from the above path to Drive:\Program Files (x86)\Waters\NuGenesis LMS Smart Builder\Plugins.

Check the status of the UDF plugin in Excel:

  1. Start Excel and go to the main menu > Excel Options.
  2. Select Add-Ins.
  3. Click "Manage: Disabled Items" and click Go.
  4. If "watersudf.formdesignerudf" is in the disabled items list, select it and click Enable.
  5. The UDF plugin may be listed in the "Inactive Application Add-Ins" list; this is OK because the UDF plugin is inactive until it is used by a form.
