What are Waters' recommended best practices for archiving large, multi-GB files with NuGenesis SDMS? - WKB318899

Article number: 318899

ENVIRONMENT

  • NuGenesis 9 SDMS
  • NuGenesis 8 SDMS

ANSWER

  1. Set the Refresh Interval for the Archive Agent (AA) and Transport Engine (TE) modules to 12 hours.  This setting gives each module the maximum window of time to process multi-gigabyte files
  2. Disable real-time scanning by ant-virus/anti-malware software on the system, or at least on the TE_TEMP folder and the Temp folder for the NuGenesis RPC service account
  3. When possible, isolate the archive of multi-GB to one SDMS file capture server.  This action will allow one server to process the set of large files, and allow other SDMS servers to process smaller data sets without delay
  4. If using Managed Storage, increase the FTP Control Channel and Data Channel timeouts to at least 9999
  5. In NuGenesis 9.0 and later, check the status of TE Compression on the relevant SDMS servers, and disable it if it is active.  TE Compression defaults to Inactive starting in NuGenesis 9.0.  This setting is not available for NuGenesis 8 and prior versions
