  • The following error message appears when attempting to save a NuGenesis SDMS archive template to the database:
    • "Unable to save template [template_name] to database."
  • The archive template has more than 100 lines and more than 100 revisions
  • The log file for the Archive Template Builder program has the following message:
    • "Failed in saveTemplatedata module.14:Out of string space"

ENVIRONMENT

  • NuGenesis 8 SDMS

CAUSE

The template has grown too large, with too many lines and too many template revisions, to be handled by the VB6-based Archive Template Builder program.

FIX or WORKAROUND

Copy all of the active template lines into a new archive template:

  1. Create a new Archive template in the SDMS project.
  2. Open both the new and the old template.
  3. In the old template, select the first active line, and click the Copy button.
  4. Switch to the new template and click the Paste button.
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until all of the active lines are copied to the new template.
  6. Save the new template to the database.
  7. Close both of the templates.

Configure the Archive Agent to use the new template:

  1. Log in to the NuGenesis Service Configuration Console (SCC).
  2. Select the Archive Agent module.
  3. Stop the module if it is running.
  4. In the "List of templates", select the line that corresponds to the old template, and click Delete.
  5. Click the Add button.
  6. Select the SDMS project and template and click OK.
  7. Click the Save button to save the AA configuration.
  8. Start the AA module.

Disable the old template (optional)

  1. In SDMS Administrator, open the project properties window and click the Templates tab.
  2. Select the old template and click Disable. This will prevent the template from appearing in the Archive Agent configuration.
  3. Close the properties window and click the Save button.
  4. Enter user credentials and a reason for change if prompted.
