Which characters are supported for use in LDAP passwords in NuGenesis SDMS? - WKB2854

Article number: 2854

ENVIRONMENT

  • NuGenesis 9 SDMS
  • NuGenesis 8 SDMS

ANSWER

Only the printable characters in the C0 block of Unicode—basic, unaccented Latin characters and punctuation—are supported in LDAP passwords in the main SDMS applications.  Programs/services which make use of the SDMS SDK (Toolkit) can use nearly all printable characters in the C0 block, with the exception of the + character.  Using that character in a password will result in "invalid username/password" messages from the SDMS SDK for valid logins.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

CRI-5275 has been filed for SDMS to expand the range of characters that can be used in LDAP passwords.

See the Wikibooks Unicode character reference for the full list of characters in the C0 block.

Known errors when characters outside the C0 block are used in passwords in SDMS:

id2854, SDMS, SDMS8, SDMS8NU, SUPISDMS, SUPNG
