"Error Category: 1 System Code (53) - The network path was not found" in the SDMS Archive Activity log - WKB266884

SYMPTOMS

• "GetFSInfofromOcx 10048 Err Desc - TRANSPORT ERROR GETTING VOLUME INFORMATION. Error Category: 1  System Code (53) - The network path was not found" appears in the SDMS Archive Activity log for a specific Archive Request line
• The UNC path can be accessed from Windows Run command and from File Capture Template, when logged in to the server as the same user running the NuGenesis RPC Service on the file capture server 
• Permissions on the data share are as needed
• A new text file can be created, opened, edited, saved, and deleted  

ENVIRONMENT

• NuGenesis SDMS, all versions 

CAUSE

In this case, the UNC path (data location) could be accessed from the SDMS Administrator/Web Application Server, when logged in to Windows as the same user running the NuGenesis RPC Service on the SDMS File Capture Server.  However, accessing the same UNC path from the File Capture Server while logged in to Windows as the same account was not possible. It is unusual to be able to access a UNC path from one server but not from another, while logged in to Windows on these servers with the same SDMS RPC Service account.

SDMS cannot archive from a UNC path when this UNC path is not accessible from the SDMS File Capture Server. 

FIX or WORKAROUND

Some network restriction was in place that prevented this UNC path from being accessed from the SDMS File Capture Server. Exact details of this restriction are not known and were resolved by the customer.
