SYMPTOMS

ENVIRONMENT

• NuGenesis 9 SDMS
• NuGenesis 8 SDMS

CAUSE

The database version of the Empower project does not match the database version of the Empower server. The project import (“Restore”) function in Empower normally updates a project to the current database version, so either that update process failed during this project's import or it was created in an earlier DB version, migrated, and never opened in this version of Empower. 

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. As the message says, opening in Empower prompts you to update the project, triggering the schema update process again. Either it succeeds and brings the project up to date (which allows SDMS to archive it) or it fails and you must investigate why the project cannot be updated to the correct version.
2. Where possible, upgrade to NuGenesis 9 Data Adapters Release 5 (minimum). This version no longer considers the project and server DB versions when evaluating an Empower project for backup.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The database version of Empower is not the Empower system version. You can see the database version in the About box of the Empower client.
