The error "The number of samples exceeded the incremental file name maximum" appears when logging in OALogin samples - WKB73004

Article number: 73004

SYMPTOMS

  • The error "The number of samples exceeded the incremental file name maximum. Please contact your administrator." appears when logging in samples in OALogin
  • In the OpenLynx method (.olp), the "Maximum number of samples" is set to 100, and this is not exceeded

ENVIRONMENT

  • MassLynx
  • OpenLynx
  • OALogin

CAUSE

A problem with the Increment Number configuration

In OAlogin window > Admin > Login Options under Default Data File Name, you can select "Use Incremental File Naming". This causes the software to automatically name the raw data files with the "Base File Name" and then an increment number.

If 1 is specified, the first sample will be the Base File name (for example, 2019_July_) plus the Increment Number, so "2019_July_1".
This will increase for each sample up to 2019_July_9.
Because there is only one digit, the increment cannot increase beyond 9, and the following error message appears:
"The number of samples exceeded the incremental file name maximum. Please contact your administrator.'

FIX or WORKAROUND

Use more than one digit (for example, 001) for the Increment Number. In this case it will be 999 samples before the error message appears.
