Error "Warning: NIST MS Database directory invalid" - WKB590

SYMPTOMS

• Error appears when attempting to search NIST libraries:

ENVIRONMENT

• MassLynx 4.1
• NIST 2011

CAUSE

Library Search List points to the directory of the NIST 2011 libraries (C:\NIST2011), not the actual library files.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. In the main MassLynx window, enable Shortcuts.
2. Go to the Tools menu.
3. Select Search Library.
4. In the Library window that opens, select its File menu.
5. Choose Search List.
6. In the Library Search List section, highlight C:\NIST2011 and click the Remove button.
7. Click the Add button.
8. Use the Browse For Folder window to navigate to C:NIST2011\MSSEARCH.
9. There are four libraries here: mainlib, nist_msms, nist_ri, and replib. Highlight the folder with the pertinent library name and click OK.
10. Repeat steps 7 through 9 if more than one library is involved.
11. Click OK to exit.
