How to resolve MS system IP conflicts with customer LAN - WKB55039

Article number: 55039

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Resolve IP conflicts between customer LAN and system LAN.

ENVIRONMENT

  • MassLynx 4.1
  • MassLynx 4.2
  • All mass spectrometers
  • Empower 3

PROCEDURE

  1. Reconfigure the Waters DHCP Wizard to use an alternative IP address (e.g., 172.16.0.1). (This will release the current entries and automatically change the address of the network card.)

  2. Reboot the MassLynx PC and reboot the instrument stack.

  3. Re-establish communication between the MassLynx PC and the instrument stack.

  4. If communications are not re-established, make sure that the PC recognizes the new EPC IP address:

  5. In the search box, type "ping epc".

  6. If the address pinged for EPC is not the correct IP address, edit the hosts file to the new IP address.

  7. Edit the IP hosts file, C: drive > Windows > System32 > drivers > Etc > hosts.

  8. Open the file "host " with Note Pad, change the IP address in this file to, for example, 172.16.0.x, where x is the specific IP address of the mass spectrometer.
