SYMPTOMS

• Cannot load inlet method or change gradient
• Error message: "Waters Generic Instrument Server. Pump Method Getting pump's class ID failed with errror 800401F3 Invalid class string"

ENVIRONMENT

• MassLynx
• ACQUITY UPC2
• M-Class

CAUSE

Waters Pump Control (WPC) software is not loaded.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Load the Waters Pump Control software. (For some builds of MassLynx, the WPC does not install automatically from inlet editor > Setup Instrument.)
2. Browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\Micromass Utilities\ICOP\Utilities.
3. Select the latest WPC folder and run the setup.exe file as Administrator.
