  • With DDA data, processing fails to respond.
  • This may or may not produce an error message.
  • C:/PLGS3.0.x/log/Processor.txt or C:/PLGS3.0.x/log/ProteinLynxBrowser.txt log files contain a number format errors similar to the one shown here:

ENVIRONMENT

  • PLGS (all versions)

CAUSE

Customer may have ignored the instructions in the PLGS release notes and incorrectly set the Windows Control Panel > Region and Language > Format to their local region, language, or both. In some cases, typically those from continental Europe, this results in commas being used as decimal points. PLGS cannot recognize the comma as a decimal point, so processing cannot proceed.

FIX or WORKAROUND

  1. Stop all PLGS processing and close PLGS.
  2. Confirm that no Apex3D, Peptide3D or iadbs processes are running in the windows task manager. If there are, close them.
  3. Open the Windows Control Panel and navigate to Region and Language.
  4. In the Formats tab, set the Format setting to English (United States) or English (United Kingdom) to make the decimal point a full stop/period.
  5. Press Apply, and then OK.
  6. Restart PLGS and repeat processing.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

At step 3 in the above solution, it might also be possible to keep the format setting as the local language and just change the decimal point setting to a full stop/period.
