SCN 1050 does not accept a value for collision energy in the MRM method editor for Xevo TQ-GC - WKB315460

Article number: 315460

SYMPTOMS

  • When you create a new MRM method in MassLynx SCN 1050, the collision energy is not saved
  • The value for collision energy looks like it is accepted, but when the saved method is reopened, the Collision (V) box is empty
  • Collision energy is recorded as 0.00 if the method is printed
  • Collision energy is saved for Parent or Daughter scans
  • Comments entered in the MRM method channels are not displayed in the method editor, but they are saved in the method

ENVIRONMENT

  • MassLynx
  • Xevo TQ-GC

CAUSE

Bug in the software - CRI-9019 raised

FIX or WORKAROUND

  1. This is fixed in SCN1051 (667007867DD)
  2. Workaround available but not recommended: Add Formula column in the registry:
  3. Close MassLynx.
  4. Open the registry editor (regedit).
  5. Browse to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Micromass\MethodEditor\MS EditorMRM.
  6. Select Binary Data "Column Width(7)" and add a value (for example, 95).
  7. Close the registry editor.
  8. Open MassLynx and the MS method editor.
  9.  Create a method from "New".
  10. A column titled "Formula/Neutral" appears.
  11. Values specified in this Formula column are used as the Collision Energy.
NOTE: The software still requires a value to be specified in the "Collision (V)" box, but it is not used.
