Article number: 2838

SYMPTOMS

  • Monitoring MS boot sequence using HyperTerminal for troubleshooting purposes.
  • Page is mixed characters, non-English, random symbols and spaces.
  • Instrument seems to restart without issue.

ENVIRONMENT

  • Hyperterminal

CAUSE

Some new EPC motherboards use faster data transfer rates than older ones, so they need a different speed setting in Hyperterminal than the default setting of 9600 bits per second.

FIX or WORKAROUND

  1. Open Hyperterminal
  2. In the Port Settings tab, click Bits per Second.
  3. Using the drop-down menu, choose a value greater than 9600 bps - typically 115200 bps.
