OBJECTIVE or GOAL
Configure MassLynx to allow a third-party inlet system to trigger the mass spectrometer to start acquiring.
ENVIRONMENT
- All versions of MassLynx 3.x and 4.x
- All mass spectrometers
PROCEDURE
- Open the MassLynx inlet method.
- Go to Tools > Instrument Configuration.
- Click the Configure button.
- Step through the Configuration Wizard, selecting None for pump and autosampler and clearing all detectors, and then click Finish.
- Click the Events and Triggering button.
- Click Next.
- Select Event In 1, click Next, click Next again, and then click Finish.
- Connect the event start cable from the third-party inlet to the Event In 1 connection on the back of the mass spectrometer.
- The configuration of the contact closures on the mass spectrometer can be found in the MassLynx console in the mass spectrometer section.
