Article number: 221311

SYMPTOMS

  • User was sent the files from a MassLynx .raw data file but not the .raw folder
    • .dat
      .IDX
      .STS
      Functns
      Header
      History
      Inlet
      Extern
      Chroms
  • Must review these data in MassLynx

ENVIRONMENT

  • MassLynx (all versions and SCNs)

CAUSE

Data received without the .raw folder

FIX or WORKAROUND

  1. Open the Header.txt file to locate the original sample file name. Copy this file name from the text file.
  2. In the folder where you want to save this data file, create a new folder. Rename this folder using the original sample file name copied in Step 1, adding .raw to the name.
  3. Move the set of files sent to you by our colleague to the folder created in step 2.
  4. From the Chromatogram window in MassLynx, go to File > Open, and browse to the .raw file you created in steps 2 and 3. This should open the data file.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

When sending MassLynx data files (.raw) through email or file share systems that will not allow the sending or sharing of a folder, zip the .raw to create a file that can be sent. The most common way to do this is to right-click on the .raw file and select Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder.
