  • Error "Microsoft .NET Framework: Unhandled exception has occurred in your application" when opening console
  • "Object reference not set to an instance of an object"

  • Console closes
  • Other debug error messages may include "System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object"
  • Communications lost when priming inlet (e.g., QSM)

ENVIRONMENT

  • MassLynx
  • Antivirus software
  • Cisco Amp End point protection
  • Kaspersky Endpoint Security
  • ACQUITY UPLC H-Class Quaternary Solvent Manager (QSM)

CAUSE

Unsupported antivirus software (e.g., Kaspersky Endpoint Security or Cisco Amp End point protection) pushing updates to the PC

FIX or WORKAROUND

  1. Remove the antivirus software and use a supported version (see software release notes).
  2. Alternatively, disable real-time scanning and automatic updates during data acquisition and try to configure the software for exceptions for MassLynx files (unsupported).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

.NET Framework is a suite of software tools provided by Microsoft as part of the Windows operating system. When a .NET Framework error occurs, it is almost always a problem with software that makes use of the .NET Framework tools (for example, the ACQUITY console).
