How to change MassLynx configuration to collect data from a UV detector, not from the mass spectrometer - WKB192283

Article number: 192283

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

After MassLynx was used with a mass spectrometer, configure MassLynx to acquire data with an optical detector (e.g., TUV, PDA), without a mass spectrometer connected.

ENVIRONMENT

  • MassLynx
  • 2475 Multi-Wavelength Fluorescence Detector
  • 2487 Dual-Wavelength Absorbance Detector
  • 2488 Multichannel Absorbance Detector
  • 2489 UV/Vis Detector
  • 2996 PDA Detector
  • 2998 Photodiode Array Detector
  • ACQUITY UPLC ELS Detector
  • ACQUITY UPLC FLR Detector
  • ACQUITY UPLC PDA Detector
  • ACQUITY UPLC PDA eλ Detector
  • ACQUITY UPLC RI Detector
  • ACQUITY UPLC Tunable UV Detector

PROCEDURE

  1. Uninstall and reinstall MassLynx, selecting "no MS" in the installation options.
  2. Uninstall MassLynx (using Programs and Features) and uninstall any inlet control software (e.g., ACQUITY drivers).
  3. Reboot the PC.
  4. If the system might be needed again with an MS connected, rename the MassLynx folder as something like MassLynx_backup_MS or whatever you need.  This way the reinstallation does not remove any files from the MassLynx folder.
  5. Reinstall MassLynx selecting "no MS" in the installation options.
  6. Note: Back up all data files, methods, and reports.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Install the ACQUITY TUV driver when using UV (TUV OR PDA) because the control signals for UV are within that driver. If the configuration includes a PDA, ACQUITY TUV and PDA drivers must be present on the computer.
