How to configure an e-SAT/IN device to bring an analog signal into MassLynx - WKB115875

Article number: 115875

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Bring an analog signal from a third-party/non-MassLynx controlled detector into the MassLynx software. (If the MS does not have an analog channels connection, an e-SAT/IN device can be used to achieve this.)

ENVIRONMENT

  • e-SAT/IN
  • MassLynx

PROCEDURE

  1. Leave the e-SAT/IN device off, but make physical connections of signal and contact cables, and connect the network cable from the device to the ACQUITY network hub.
  2. In the MassLynx Inlet Editor, click Tools > Instrument Configuration and click Setup Instrument.
  3. In the wizard that appears, click Next, and then choose Install or Upgrade instrument drivers.
  4. Agree to the terms and conditions.
  5. Choose "Custom".
  6. Select Waters eSATIN software from the list of instrument drivers and click Next.
  7. When the deployment manager completes the installation, click Finish.
  8. Select No (to not reboot right away).
  9. Close out of Inlet Editor and MassLynx, and then reboot the workstation.
  10. Turn on the e-SAT/IN and wait for the green light to stop flashing (this indicates it has acquired an IP address).
  11. Open MassLynx, and then open the Inlet Editor.
  12. Click Tools > Instrument Configuration > Configure.
  13. Go through the wizard without making changes to the current configuration until you reach the Detector section.
  14. Select Waters eSAT/IN from the list and click the arrow to move it to Configured detectors.
  15. Click Next, and then click Scan for Instruments.
  16. When the scanning is complete, use the pull-down menu next to the eSAT/IN to select the appropriate serial number.
  17. Click Next > Finish.
  18. Set up the eSAT/IN method with appropriate parameters, and ensure that the run time is the same as the MS method run time.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

To view analog data, in the Chromatogram viewer, click Display > Analog, select the appropriate channel, and then click OK.

Although Waters e-SAT/IN software is picked in the Deployment Manager, under the Windows' Control Panel, the program appears as Waters Empower eSATIN Software.  See example image below:WatersEmpower esatin software.png
