SYMPTOMS

• Unable to perform injections with Agilent GC, gas sampling valve, and external samplers with ICF 3.0 (or higher)

ENVIRONMENT

• Empower 3 Personal
• Empower 3 Workgroup
• Empower 3 Enterprise
• Agilent Instrument Control Framework 3.0 (or higher)
• Agilent GC
• Agilent Headspace Sampler
• Agilent 6890 GC
• Agilent 7890 GC
• Agilent 8860 GC
• Agilent 8890 GC

CAUSE

If more than one gas sampling valve or external sampler is connected, the first valve is always assigned as the injection source.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Switch off GC and Headspace sampler.
2. Remove tray and tower connection from the back of the GC.
3. Switch on GC only.
4. From GC front panel in a configuration, select valve 1 as GSV.
5. Remove Headspace sampler from Agilent PreConfig Utility.
6. Scan GC from Agilent PreConfig Utility.
7. Create a new instrument method (injector preference parameter was not available here as configuration contains GC only).
8. Start the analysis.
