With Shimadzu GC, "Unexpected error" in message center, followed by "Instrument failure" message - WKB85559

SYMPTOMS

• In between sample sets, the Shimadzu GC system shows the following error in Empower message center: "Unexpected Error", followed by "Instrument failure"
• Sample set stops

ENVIRONMENT

• Empower
• Shimadzu GC with Headspace Sampler HS-20

CAUSE

Shimadzu HS-20 disconnected during the acquisition due to a hardware issue.

Examples of hardware troubles:
The USB cable is not inserted correctly into the connector.
Using a damaged USB cable.
Using an unsupported connection, such as a USB-LAN converter.

FIX or WORKAROUND

Check the hardware connection carefully.
