What is the “Verify Incomplete Data” function and how to use it in Empower 3? - WKB81263

Article number: 81263

ENVIRONMENT

  • Empower 3

ANSWER

  1. If a data file is incomplete, “Incomplete Data” appears in the chromatogram plot.
  2. If you have the “Verify incomplete data in raw data files” privilege, bring the injection into review, right-click on the chromatogram and select "Verify Incomplete Data".
  3. The software displays information from the data file as much as possible. If the software displays a data file, you can save the data file as usual and use it.
As a best practice in general it is recommended to review data for completeness
    1. Confirm that the data in the plot ends at or extremely close to the run time.
    2. Review result codes for an I17 processing code: Warning - data collected with non-uniform sampling rate
This processing code is generally informational as it is completely normal for some detectors to collect data at a non-uniform sampling rate. For example, this happens when some MS detectors acquire multiple overlapping channels where the channels are not collected for the full run time. In the event that the data is non-uniform due to a detector problem:
      1. Inspect the peak shapes for unusual straight lines
      2. Inspect the signal at baseline looking for flat areas or straight line areas which are indicative of possible missing data points (Note that for centroid MS data, flat lines at zero are normal)
  4. Click Cancel if the data file is not correct.
    1. In such cases, the data file remains incomplete and not changed.
  5. This task must be performed in its current environment prior to Project backup & restore
