How does the "Average by" field work in Empower? - WKB72866

Article number: 72866

ENVIRONMENT

  • Empower 3

ANSWER

Average by: How the system averages calibration standards to generate calibration curve data in the Calibration Curve window. After data processing, the calculated average response and/or average amount (or concentration) appear in the Calibration table of the Calibration Curve window. The averaged calibration curve points appear in the Calibration Curve plot of the Calibration Curve window.

Choices: None, Amount, Level

  • If you select None - Standards are not averaged. The individual points are used to calculate the calibration curve.
  • If you select Amount - The responses of all components with the same amount or concentration in an injection are averaged, and the averaged points are used to calculate the calibration curve.
  • If you select Level - The amounts or concentrations and responses for all standards of the same level are averaged, and the averaged points are used to calculate the calibration curve. When you select Average By Level but, during sample loading (pre-acquisition), fail to enter levels for your standards in the Alter Sample window (post-acquisition), Empower software regards all the standards as having the same level. Thus, the resulting calibration curve consists of only one averaged point.
