OBJECTIVE or GOAL

In Empower 3, ensure that a system is primed before running the samples in a sample set and confirm that the prime was indeed done.

PROCEDURE

1. If the action of priming is available in the Function column of the sample set table in Run Samples or the sample set method, add this function at the beginning of the table prior to any injection rows. There is also an option to then lock the method so that it cannot be changed.
2. When this function is used in the sample set table, it can then be viewed using the sample set method report group in a report.
3. If there is not a prime function that can be used in the sample set method for the system, then this action cannot be enforced or monitored within the Empower software. The company's SOP would be an option for controlling this.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Another option within Empower 3 that could be used to provide a reminder and some tracking would be to create a sample set custom text field and select "User Entry Required". For example, a field may be called "Is_Prime_Done?", and the user would be required to type something in the field before a run could start.
