The sample set report group is missing a character in the sample set name, but the sample set name field report group shows all characters - WKB47306

SYMPTOMS

• The sample name in the sample set report group in a report is missing the character "1" from the middle of the name, following an "_" character
• The sample set name field report group for the same sample set in the same report shows all characters

ENVIRONMENT

• Empower 3

CAUSE

Investigation showed that there was a control character embedded in the sample set name, which would not show as a visible character.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Select the sample set in the project window and open Alter Sample.
2. Select from the menu and Edit Sample Set Information.
3. Delete the entire sample set name and then type it in again, taking care to use only acceptable characters or keys on the keyboard.
4. Save the sample set changes.
5. Recreate the report.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

• This has also been reported for processing methods, where one or two character are missing from the processing method name in the report. 
• After investigation, it was determined that there was a control character within the method name, as stored in the database.
• This issue is reported as PCS# 54938 and CRI-738.
