Agilent GC instrument failure with error message in Empower: "The connection to an analysis signal was lost during the run, so the sequence was aborted" - WKB301584

SYMPTOMS

• Error message in Empower message center: "InstrumentAgGC#XXXXX:The connection to an analysis signal was lost during the run, so the sequence was aborted", followed by Instrument Failure AgGC#XXXXX
• Error message in Empower message center: "InstrumentAgGC#XXXXX:Could not get control of Agilent XXXX; already controlled by SYSTEM @ XXXXX"

ENVIRONMENT

• Empower 3 Enterprise
• Agilent ICF SL v3.6 and above
• Agilent GC

CAUSE

It is observed on the acquisition client that the Instrument LAN network settings are reset when a Windows time service update is applied.

This leads GC to monitor state and the symptoms noted above.

FIX or WORKAROUND

Stop the time-service updates in a client.
