SYMPTOMS
- Thermo GC cannot be brought online, despite having an available GC license
ENVIRONMENT
- Empower 3 Version 3.7.0 and higher
- Instrument Catalog Version 2
CAUSE
All Thermo systems—LC, GC, and IC—identify as and consume an LC license.
FIX or WORKAROUND
- Obtain and install sufficient Thermo LC Instrument Control Licenses.
- Update to SII v1.3 and configure system as a GC.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This issue is a result of how the driver is identified by Thermo and recognized by Empower. As of SII 1.3, there is an option to configure the system as a GC, which in turn allows the Thermo GC license to be used.
